What you will learn
This course takes you from reading skin to running a full facial session on your own. You learn clean-ups, glow and hydrating facials, and how to plan a bride's skin care in the weeks before her wedding. You also learn when not to treat, and how to send a client to a doctor kindly and clearly.
- Asking the right questions: routine, allergies, medicines, past reactions
- Reading skin under good light: type, texture, open pores, dullness, dryness
- Filling a client card and taking before photos with her permission
- Explaining what you will do, and what result to expect, in plain words
- Hand washing, gloves, clean towels and sheets for every client
- Cleaning and storing tools, bowls and brushes between clients
- Patch tests: how and when to do one
- Contra-indications: rashes, infections, open wounds, very active acne, recent skin treatments
- When to stop a facial and when to send a client to a doctor
- Cleansing and makeup removal in the right order
- Scrub or gentle exfoliation by skin type
- Steam and safe blackhead removal
- Choosing a pack for oily, dry or combination skin
- Finishing with toner, moisturiser and sunscreen
- The full facial order from cleanse to finish, and timing each step
- Face, neck and shoulder massage: strokes, pressure and rhythm
- Glow facial for dull, tired skin
- Hydrating facial for dry and dehydrated skin
- Mask application and clean removal
- Keeping the client relaxed and comfortable through the session
- Planning a skin schedule from the first visit to the wedding week
- Which treatments to do early, and what to avoid close to the wedding
- Preparing skin the day before and the morning of makeup
- Working with the makeup artist so the base sits well
- A simple morning and night routine for each skin type
- Aftercare to tell the client after a clean-up or facial
- Giving advice without medical claims
- Booking the next visit and keeping notes on her client card

A typical class day
- 1
The trainer does one full step, or a full facial, on a model while you watch up close.
- 2
You set up your trolley, clean your tools and fill a client card for your model.
- 3
You do the consultation and the facial on a classmate or a live model, with the trainer checking each step.
- 4
The trainer gives you feedback, and you repeat the part that needs work.
- 5
You clean your station, wash your tools and change the towels and sheet.
- 6
You photograph your work and add it to your practice file.
